I always hate the day after the Super Bowl. I get up the next morning and ask myself what game is coming up and the response is: none. I mean we can dissect the Super Bowl only for so long and it gets shorter the more dominant one team was over the other so the analysis of this last one will be — ‘well at least the Broncos didn’t get blanked, because they sure got creamed in every phase of the game. So after about 10 minutes of post game looking back, I suddenly discover that I am already slipping into post football withdrawal disorder.
The symptoms are he same I think as women on PMS. Irritability, mood swings, restlessness, boredom, etc. Honestly, it is the drop in competitiveness that hit men most. The football widows suddenly might be happy as their men suddenly show up again but the men are now talking: ‘wait till next year’ stuff and wishing that they could fast forward the calendar to August.
Me. I don’t like to many other sports unless they are football like. One exception is Arena Football which I do not like that much as it is pretty much all offense and no defense. Rugby and Australian Rules Football I actually have enjoyed but no American sports channel covers them very much. The season can be wonky too. So I am left with putting up with basketball and baseball being on the TV waiting for that first bit of true football news and then like an addict who hasn’t had a fix in months lapping it up off the floor and waiting for more. The NFL draft is in April so I look and wait for that. It’s the long dark again waiting for the light.
