I know the power of Strength of Spirit both my own and the Holy Spirit. Once you have been there you know exactly what I mean about that power when your spirit is strong and ready for anything. Even better is when the Holy Spirit super-charges the rest of it. Right now I am searching for my own strength of spirit but what has been nice so far today is a real strength of the Holy Spirit keeping me going through it as I search.
This week has been one of trying to find direction and vision in a year where in many ways I have either been put in position where my vision and direction is the hands of someone else or I have left it to others because it is a rest year for me. It has been interesting to see God work in this and to kind of clear up the murk of the water so I can see some light again of what I am supposed to do. The Rundown:
Celebration – This year will mark the 145th anniversary of my church. I haven’t really thought about it until today but it might do to celebrate something this year for the church and this might be the thing that we look at. I am going to bring this up at the council meeting in February but it might be time for the pig roast open to the public as a big thank you to all the support from the community over the years.
Spiritual Disciplines – I can’t say that my dedication to my spiritual disciplines has increased it is just like this whole ‘dark night of the soul’ thing has seeming slightly lifted and I feel more like things are making progress. I feel better now when I do pray or meditate so that has been good.
Leadership – I have to change focus from school to another question that I was going to put on the back burner. Party affiliation for myself. The question before me is do I take a tact of joining the libertarian party which I am in 100% agreement with or do I joining the Republicans and have a better chance of winning even though there are some planks in the platform that I disagree with? To me the decision means a different goal or motivation to follow as one involves trying to get a third party more into the mainstream and the other actually involves achieving elected office to make changes more along a libertarian line. Tough decision.
Ministry – Had our annual business today and I was pleased. You must understand in the government of our church I have little power. I don’t run the meeting and I basically open and close with pray and then sit back and observe. I have little control in this situation and decisions that can greatly affect me can be made with any say or little say on my part. it still went very well and I think the people really came to understand the real situation of the church that we are in. It was a good meeting and some problems are going to get solved I think.
All and all God is doing more here to strengthen my spirit than I ma strengthening my own. I will be glad when both are together once again.
Blessings and Cheers!!!
