It has been an interesting week of house sitting. To be honest compared to where I live this place is very quiet. There is little to break that silence other than the sound of the dogs when they bark every once in a while to be let out (dog sitting too) and what I call the sounds of silence.
Most of the time we attempt to fill our lives with noise. I like noise in certain forms myself like music and laughter but for the most part I can do without it. People don’t want to hear the sounds of silence because of all the sounds in the world they are the most meditative and require the most reflection and thinking. These are things we avoid doing even though they are probably the things that make us better people.
There is the sound of the wind that whips past us. With all the snow that has been falling and the wind blowing I actually hear the wind as it causes other things to vibrate slightly. But then there are other things when the wind dies down. To hear the inhale and exhale of my breath and my heartbeat are some things that you cannot hear unless you are very quiet and listening for them. When the sun hit the roof just right there was the dripping of water. All in all this has been an uplifting and spiritually relaxing week.
The Spirit Rundown:
Celebration – I consider Super Bowl Sunday as a celebration of life of sorts and I am hoping next year to actually be a Super Bowl Party of some kind. For the last few years I have found myself alone watching the things by myself. It just is not much of a celebration when you do it that way.
Ministry – Things are changing at the church – like it or not. I am seeing God in s sense forcing certain circumstances on us that are causing some to open their eyes and hopefully other will realize that as much as we hate change we need it to stay alive.
Leadership – Still frogging around but I have gotten closer to a decision on political parties, but more on that later this week. My main goal now is to keep my eyes and ears open for something to be involved in.
Spiritual Disciplines – great week this week as you may have guessed. This Sounds of Silence thing really makes praying and meditating much easier and more beneficial.
Blessings and Cheers!!!
