I had a very interesting experience yesterday. I was getting ready to take some our trash to the dump and other stuff of recycling. After opening the garage door, which I instantly regretted as it was cold and the wind hit me full on at about 20 below, I began to load the Escape with some bags and then I felt a presence fly right over my head and into the garage. It was a hawk of some sort which I later looking through our bird book I identified as a Broad Winged Hawk. She found her way into the rafters and I knew she was probably looking for temporary shelter from the wind storm. She was a pretty girl to be sure and I had to pause how sometimes things happen that you least expect that are pretty awesome. Today she is gone, most likely she waited out the windstorm and got back to the hunt. At least though for a moment God saw fit to share her presence with me.
I found it not entirely coincidental that my understandings of my life are like a bird in flight right now. There are a lot of things we cannot control like the wind and storms but we can fly above them or find shelter. After it passes we fly onward to the next thing but we are flying so it is still pretty cool.
Leadership – Now that I have made the decision of what political party and ideology to follow, the next steps are a little easier to see. I need to officially join the Libertarian Party and find out what opportunities for involvement are available.
Ministry – The church is going through a little transition at this point. It had caused me to reflect on a simple principle. You can either embrace change and be proactive about it or be constantly reacting to it trying to avoid it.
Celebration – Lot of things to enjoy in the simple things. The hawk was a pretty neat thing and it made a pretty ordinary day something to celebrate.
Spiritual Disciplines – This last week I had to remark that the most quick thing to return with my weightlifting was meditative state of mind. I have long told people who lifting was more than exercise to me and it proved true almost as soon as I dropped down for my first squat on day one. More on this at the end of the week in The Body Rabyd.
It was a good week last week looking forward to this one.
Blessings and Cheers!!!
