It didn’t take me long to find out what my guide meant when she said I could be in danger from her at night. That evening as night approached I saw tower made of stone rise up from the forest and when we got to it she rushed me inside with only the instruction to bar the door from the inside and to go to the room at the top and bar that door too. She seemed restless and not near as in control as she had been before. I did as she instructed finding a room in the top of the tower that had a bed, wash basin and other essentials in it. I barred the second door behind me but I had to admit I was inflamed with curiosity and my suspicions. The windows of the room were few each in the center of each tower wall and thinly silted medieval fashion to allow for archery out but protection if someone fired into them. I was probably about three stories up and after checking two of them the third offered the most revealing view of my new guide.
I do mean revealing as she was in a small clearing bellow me and she had shed every stitch of clothing piling it neatly on a rock beside her. She was definitely at least half elven as she had a thin look about her and elves don’t posses hair in certain places humans do. Her wolf was there too and at first I thought it was inconsequential until I suddenly realize the moon was shining down on the whole scene. My guide and her wolf were a couple of feet apart and then in a literal flash they were one and the same being. I don’t know how else to describe it, as it happened so fast. One minute there was a pretty naked half elf woman and a wolf and the next there was a tall slender black werewolf in their place. Her howl shook the forest and caused me to get a lump in my throat. Symbiotic lycanthropy is a weird thing to see.
It didn’t take me long to realize that I was in the tower for my own protection. My guide became something more bestial at that point and I knew if it wasn’t for the barred doors and stone walls I would be her hunt for the evening. As it was she simple snarled my direction and then vanished into he woods. I heard the cry of some other beast in stark terror and then silence and knew at that moment she had made her kill. I thought I would never get to sleep after that but I must have been exhausted and fell asleep almost as soon as my head hit the bed made of straw. My only thought before I went to sleep was whether Tequila was OK or not.
The first rays of sunlight hit my face and when I looked ut the window again my guide was washing herself in a nearby stream. He body had blood covering parts of it but it added to the weird bloody scene. A naked elven woman washing blood offer her face and arms is a strange sight. Her wolf even plunged into the water and get out and shook itself off.
I got up and unbarred the doors as I went back outside the tower. The elf did not even flinch as I walked up to her as she bathed naked. She seemed oblivious to any thoughts of modesty standards. Her notion seemed to be one of endless solitude and that was probably true.
“You know, you could warn a guy.”
The guide grinned, “It’s always more fun for my transformations to scare people the first time. It serves as a warning that I am neither tame nor am I safe.”
“I would wager however you are alone in the world.”
“Yes, but not always.”
“You know, you never told me your name.”
“You may call me Lytria. It means Wolf Dancer and that is Fenthora.”
She pointed to her wolf.
“Do you actually dance?”
“Only one night a year. The night of the new moons.”
“Yeah I did notice the two moons, must mean you have to transform all the time if even one of them is giving off light. So the night of the new moons must be when both of them are black.”
Lytria got up from the stream and walked over to the rock where he clothes were and began to carefully get dressed. Once gain the fact that I was male and staring didn’t seem to bother her in the slightest.
“You are pretty smart.”
“And you a far too at ease with being naked in front of a man.”
She laughed her light wolfish laugh, ” I spend half of my life naked, why should the other half bother me when I get to feel the dance of air on my naked skin. It makes me feel more one with my surroundings. As for men, most seem me transform and want nothing to do with me, so I do not feel threatened.”
“Well be advised I still like you and even though I am set to have a lifelong mate soon, I am attracted to you nonetheless.”
“Just remember this is not your world Barkeep and I know how to both use a blade and shoot during the day and have claws and teeth at night.”
“Hey, just a compliment, I am totally in love with another.”
“Good and thank you.”
Soon she was dressed again and guiding me through the woods.
“It will take a few days to get to the Game Grounds and the Game Master. Each night we must stop at a place like this tower. For your sake we must stop. Hurry the next one is some distance away.”
With that the three of us plunged further into the woods.
