I love Easter. I love being a pastor at Easter. I also love when it is over. It’s like that final moment where the thing is over and you get to take a deep breath and relax for a second before moving on. It was a great day today but I am always having one eye on the future and the other in the present. So now that is over what is next?
Well, there is school and the church’s summer activities. More than that though is a desire to stretch spiritually. If there is really one thing for me personally it is a desire to make progress of all fronts – Spirit, Soul and Body. That means a lot more effort but also a different focus. For now though I am just enjoying taking a deep breath and then plunge into something new.
Celebration – Easter is in many sense the end of the Christian calendar. After it everything starts over and builds back to it for next year. Between the Cross Walk on Good Friday and yesterday during service and communion I would say the celebration of the resurrection of Christ always puts steel into my faith for another year. Good weekend.
Ministry – The summer now approaches with all its calendar for the church. For the most part though I am playing the role of just making sure things are done correctly. What is done and to what extent is up to the congregation although I try to keep their own ideas in front of them as much as possible.
Spiritual Disciplines – Fitness and my spiritual disciplines go hand in hand. Much of my time in between sets and set up for my weights is about prayer but mostly meditation. I am feeling much more myself on this so I am happy.
Leadership – I am starting to see stories about high school kids getting their acceptance letters for schools and I am wondering where mine might be for next Fall. I may have to send and e-mail this week to see what up or if I am needing to do something. The Libertarian Party in my area meets on April 14th in Grand Rapids, MI so I have been thinking about attending. Might be good to get the machine running to see what I need to do to run for office.
Blessings and Cheers!!!
