Which is better? a workout split where you hit every exercise every week because it fits your motivational pattern or a split that does target weak areas but you struggle to stay motivated to finish. I am going with the first one. I would rather get complete and full workouts in all week than not. I workout by a simple axiom – a poor workout that is complete is better than any workout half done. The Rundown:
Flexibility – Going to have to order new beginner yoga videos. I can’t find the two I had anywhere. The other ones are too advanced for me at the present time. This is something then I will have to probably get in as soon as possible.
Cardio – The only thing wrong with my stationary bike is the seat is stuck in the down position and that is not a good thing. New batteries and I would be good to go. I just can’t figure out or can’t get enough force to get the thing to move back upwards. I may take it as a sign for an upgrade or to get a new treadmill which means saving some money for a few weeks to get something new.
Nutrition – Not worried about it at present time. My low carb, paleo diet will kick off on June 1st for the summer. I am hoping that it will fine tune things.
Strength – Honestly this split kills my motivation the way it is set up. I like to hit the hard things early in the week and work toward the easy things. It is because of this the best thing for me is to nail the more difficult lifting sessions and move to the stuff that is easier. I also want out get to short weight lifting sessions. 5-6 exercises a day but as heavy as I can go depending on the set and reps combination.
Day 1 – Quads, Calves
Day 2 – Chest, Triceps
Day 3 – Lower Back, Hamstrings
Day 4 – Delts, Traps
Day 5 – Upper Back, Biceps
Day 6 – Core
This split actually follows what I consider hardest to easiest and if I have at least five exercises this is about six more exercise than I am doing. I am at the half way through my Spring program so it is probably time to ratchet it up a notch. I am pleased with my Squat these days as there has not been a week that has gone by that I have not raised the resistance level. I am very happy about that but others I have struggled with and that is not satisfactory. More effort required.
Blessings and Cheers!!!
