Tequila was cradled in my arms, our naked bodies intertwined on a bed that I swear was made of something perfectly formed to our figures. I had never been so comfortable or content in my life. I was simply holding on to the moment as long as possible. We were moving through hyperspace at an unbelievable rate of speed, heading to a planet I had never heard of as part of our first leg of our journey back to Earth. Normally I would be in awe of such a journey and trying to find a window to look out but right now the only thing that mattered to me was Tequila in my arms. We had been married now for only a few days and so our only real thoughts were on being with each other and making love.
The ceremony had been performed by an alien minister of some sort. I had thought we would be disappointing the folks back home but I then learned the reason Avion had returned to Earth. She had installed something that allowed communication with the pub by using hyperspace so the signal was almost instantaneous. The only thing that slowed things down in hyperspace was mass I was told. Signals don’t have much mass. It was wonderful to see all the pub citizens again. Tequila’s sisters cried, Pint howled when we finished our vows and Colonel Gin seemed relieved that we were alive. It was a short ceremony and then we signed off. Such signals still draw a lot of power. Gin told me things were fine but we needed to get home. The girls promised a lavish reception when we got home. Not the most elaborate ceremony or expensive but it was also neither Tequila’s nor my first rodeo when it came to marriage.
After the ceremony we were led to our ship and given the best stateroom and lots of privacy. This was good because after being in love for so long, it was good to finally and completely express that to each other in every way and boy did we want to express that love over and over. Tequila is younger than me by a bit, so she kept me challenged every day so far and I was still keeping up. Sex is not only a wonderful thing, it is wonderful exercise.
In between rounds of sex, I even made an even more startling discovery that some of my theology was on board the ship and put in our room. Apparently Avion had arranged a trade deal with my girls and my theology was now an interstellar brew. I was thrilled but also wondering with all that was going on whether I could keep up with the new demand. Colonel Gin looked relived I was alive and at the same time a little frazzled. I began to wonder how the ‘cold’ war was going with Mr. Lies.
This is where I began to realize Tequila was good for me. I would be thinking too hard and worrying too much and then she would slide her naked body against me and start kissing some part of my anatomy and the worries and thoughts would melt away and the only thing that would exist was me and her. Here we were streaking through the light years like going to the corner store and all that mattered most of the time was her in my arms.
I looked at her sleeping. She was at complete peace. How do women do that? How do they find such contentment in love alone while men have to still go conquer galaxies? I closed my eyes and I could feel our skin on skin contact and hear our heart beats. No matter what lay ahead, I would be doing it side by side with Tequila. I felt her stir slightly, her hand began to brush my chest and her lips began to caress my neck lightly. I felt another round coming, no pun intended of course. Adventure and challenges could wait, it was the time for love. It would be soon enough that the world would come crashing in.
