Probably the most interesting thing that happened this week was me going back to school and how that is already starting to affect me. One of the things I ran headlong into was math. In high school I was in Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus so I was pretty good at it. At Trinity I never had to take math, I basically passed their entrance placement exam and went on my way. Fast forward 25 years and I had to take a placement exam and yeah, I haven’t used algebra in so long the knowledge and skill of it has completely left me. I haven’t used that stuff since High School. So now I have to take Algebra and I am trying to get into a class this semester. I must have it in order to take all the economics and accounting classes I will need to take for my Political Science degree so it must be done. I am hoping that what I did know is still up in the cobweb covered parts of my mind and all I have to do is turn on the light and get a dust rag.
The Soul Rundown:
Writing – I have a very interesting English class not so much because of the content of the class but the professor is very interesting in his approach to writing and teaching. When I saw I would need Advanced Composition I was a little miffed because the one thing I have done a lot of in my education is writing and I felt it was being overlooked but after only one class I am intrigued. I don’t know how well I will do but I think I am going to enjoy this class. Its been a long time since I had someone critique my writing with a neutral eye and it is a welcome change.
Reading – There is a very interesting thing about my class schedule and that is in some cases I have a whole two hours between classes. Reading homework takes priority of course but with most of Tuesday and Thursday to do all that I am sure I can bring another book and read in y downtime.
Finances – The beginning of my long term plan has begun for more financial stability. The thing is the quicker I get this done the less problems I will have with finances in the long term. Short term ,I still am unsure but now I know hoe to apply for jobs on campus and they work with my class schedule so I might find something there. If I get this math class it will be the only thing I have on Tuesday and Thursday so I am thinking working around it might be a good idea.
Family – The family is having to make a lot of adjustments because of me going to school and they are doing pretty well about it. I hope that continues.
Blessings and Cheers!!!
