Ayn Jones’s fourth term is in a sense uneventful. Administration has a lot of Automatic survival options for assignments. The problem was She did not get these assignments and instead received a lot of things that were dangerous and she had two close calls as far as survival because of it. This meant some challenging story options for a sub-branch of the Bureaucracy that is supposed to be boring. The Bureaucracy is like being officer ranked in the military but the scouts are far less formal about these things. There are three types of people the scouts recruit – those that can function alone, those that can function with a team and those that can do both. Ayn Jones falls into the last category.
I didn’t have to fudge the dice roll this time as it was a 10 which is Administration. She did not have Admin-1, so I gave it to her as the default training she would need to function. Then I started her fourth term.
First Year (age 35) – Assignment:6 (Routine), Survival: Automatic. Promotion: 8 – RS-12 to RS-13. (officers can only be promoted once per term so she got this early, so I don’t need to roll for it the rest of the term), Skills: 8 – Admin Branch Skills – 3 Communications-1
Second Year (age 36) – Assignment:12 (Special Mission), Survival: 5 (close call), Skills: 7 – Bureaucracy table – 10 (+1 intelligence)
Third Year (age 37) – Assignment: 12 (Special Mission), Survival: 9, Skills:10 – Special Mission table: 7 Survival-1. The idea just came to me that I could run ages 36-37 together. It was the best way to work in how and why she would get survival skill.
Fourth Year (age 38) Assignment: 2 (Wartime Mission), Survival: 6 (close call), Skills: 9. Admin Rank table – Academic cascade: (chooses + 1 to education). It should be noted at this point her educational level is maxed out.
He intelligence moves to D and her education to F. She also gained four brownie points. (1 for promotion, 2 special missions and 1 for the term).

Character Notes: Ayn Jones underwent a anagathics experiment from the time she was 18 to 19. The experiment was a success and in addition to retarding her aging process to 10% normal (1 year for every ten – she ages one year every time her chronological Age hits a year with a nine(9) on the end), it also added 2 points to her Strength, Dexterity and Endurance. Her original UPP was: 88AC8A. She has a degree in Stellar Navigation from Aurora University. Brownie points – 9
The thing I noted last time about number of skills needs to be calculated. Her education and intelligence both increased by one so she now can know 28 skill levels. She currently has 19 so she still ahs 9 left to get should she so desire.
My hope was to get her to serve in all sub-branches of the scout service and she only has two left: Operations and Detached Duty. The thing is that the moment a scout retires they are considered to be on Detached Duty. They can indeed always be recalled if they are needed. This may play into the story later but it does point out I really only need her to serve in Operations and that goal will be fulfilled. After that her personality suggests she will just let the dice fall where they may and follow that.
