The thing about being a pastor and a leader in other capacities is that I have often found myself in the role of creating or casting vision. Vision being defined as how do we get to the future and what will it look like. This last semester in school I had a lot of downtime between classes. At first I used this to do my reading for class but that usually lasted Monday for each week and then I was either finding myself thinking about things in the church or the school board. I could find myself reading other materials and recently I have been rethinking the vision for the church. Today I shared some of that with the church council. I think it went well but part of the council was absent so things are going to have to be repeated. That said, I think things will go forward and I am prepared to preach about this in two weeks at my annual state of the church address.
The Spirit Rundown:
Ministry – The one thing this has done is relight a fire in my heart to see the church prosper in some way. There is a vision to be sure and that has led me to making plans and getting ready to present things for growth.
Leadership – For the School Board there is a chief difference in that we are now at the point of finding a couple things to work on for the next five years. I think I know what I will advocate for and so it is simply a matter of throwing my two cents in.
Celebration – Looking forward to our annual Candle Light Service on Christmas Eve.
Spiritual Disciplines – Lots of prayer for God’s direction and meditation to hear what he would say to me. It has been a good week.
Blessings and Cheers!!!
