Well the weekend is off to a good start. From a Spiritual point of view today was an interesting day in that the first Sunday of the year I give my annual state of the church address. I always am a little nervous about confrontational situations but some things need to be said if we are going to move forward. We are a good church but we have become dangerously complacent because of it. This means trying to get past the comfort zone of being a good church and getting moving to being a great one. This is a task equal to Atlas in some respects, well maybe not that big.
That said I have another week off from school and then it will be back to work in the form of studying and writing papers. I am looking forward to it as I have been a little bored. This week I will do what I can of the grind and then wait anxiously for next week for classes to begin.
The Spirit Rundown:
Celebration: My granddaughter turns two in a few days. I can’t believe it has been that long already and with granddaughter number two on the way in March this being a grandparent thing is for real. I like it.
Spiritual Disciplines: If I do take a month off from the church it will probably be June. My son is getting married and my wife and I’s anniversary is that month as well. Just makes things nicer to have the whole month so there is no pressure on me to do a bunch of things with just a few things to celebrate instead.
Ministry: Started the process of casting and creating a more specific vision for the church. I have two months to kind of build this thing known as momentum.
Leadership: The MOISD is going to be asking soon for what the main objectives are supposed to be for the next five years. As I see it and look at the data I have two of them which I hope are implemented. Next step is e-mails and making my case this month and maybe next.
Blessings and Cheers!!!
