Wow! I haven’t wrote an opinion post in a long time. I have not written one since October 24, 2015. I have stayed out of this presidential debacle so far becasue I knew it was going to be a circus and I am not going to comment on a circus as whatever elephants and jackasses do at a circus is their own business, but we are now at a point where the mud is at least reasonably less thick so we can kind of see the shape of things to come. I have stayed up a little later than I normally would on a Saturday to watch the Nevada and South Carolina primary results.
The word is the Trump and Hillary have won and the real issue is who came in second in SC for the Republicans at this point but it really does not matter much as regardless if it is Rubio or Cruz; they both will stay in the hunt. Bush has finally dropped out leaving five candidates at the moment for the blundering elephants and two for the jackasses. Perhaps a candidate by candidate analysis is in order of who is left.
For the Blundering Elephants (That’s Republicans)
Donald Trump – I predicted this last year that if he was a front runner the evangelicals would sell their soul to vote for him. Trump has been soft of Planned Parenthood and other moral issues for a long time. I feel that there is a legitimate concern whether or not he is a true conservative for those who are looking for a true conservative. Yet, he is the front runner. Looks like I abandoned the party at the right time. I don’t like Trump for a multitude of reasons but the main thing I that I feel he and Obama are kissing cousins as far as cranial rectal inversion. That’s he has his head up is ass and I do feel he has some moral oddness to him for a man who calls himself a ‘good’ Christian.
Ted Cruz – For many Ted reminds people of Ronald Reagan the most as far policy and ideas and that might be true except I feel that the guy (along with Trump) would have us in a war in about one month. I just don’t see this continued war as just or sustainable. Cruz as always seeks to free us economically but bind us socially. Not to much difference between Cruz and Trump other than Cruz is probably more genuinely Christian but then again I don’t vote my Christianity in the sense that most people do anymore. Then again some of the ‘dirty tricks’ he has played seem to be straying from the issues.
Marco Rubio – Much the same as the two above. If he brings anything the other two do not is that he is probably more sensible about immigration at least more realistic. That said he also bring a youth to the race that is kind of a double edged sword but if the results from SC are right he took second but SC is a winner take all state for delegates (a practice that probably needs to stop) so second place is just the first loser in this case.
John Kasich – I am thinking this guy is staying in for the long haul on the idea he might win his home state and a couple others. His hope is to go into the convention as a ‘king maker’ of sorts. Good luck with that and until he drops out he will just be taking away votes so we can’t see the real picture. I dislike this guy the most of the five who are left. Too much of a statist for me. He talks like a conservative when it comes to some issues but he talks like a liberal for others. Nothing wrong abut that but the issues seem to be opposite in many cases for me.
Ben Carson – Oh for the love of God Ben, drop out!!! It is not going to happen.
The Jackasses (I don’t need to translate who that is do I?)
Hillary Clinton – It probably speaks volumes about the state of the Jackasses that their front runner is a liar, a cheat and someone who is most likely responsible for many innocent people’s deaths. That she is still the front runner despite the fact that their is a populist candidate in her own party says how much the Dems have sold their souls to the devil and the moniker of kinder, gentler, more caring and open minded party is a bunch of BS. There backing a candidate that plays dirty and they don’t care. However, I think she is the easier candidate for the Republicans to beat.
Bernie Sanders – Most people see Bernie as a nice old man who wants to do some good things for people even though he does not seem to be very knowledgeable about things like economics. I have a completely different take on Bernie. I think he knows exactly what he is doing and that is he is playing on the ignorance of the people who support him by promising them all kinds of ‘free stuff’. He is hoping that they will never take a close look at his plan to see it will not work. He is the typical ‘chicken in every pot’ candidate and that makes him a typical politician making promises that he will neither be able to keep nor will it solve problems. Socialism has been and always will be an abject failure and quite frankly is just a system of justified systematic theft.
Now currently there are seven or eight Libertarian Party Candidates and only one Green Party Candidate. That will also change over time but these are the only two other parties that could mathematically win the electoral college so they deserve a look.
Even with those I wouldn’t give two dingo’s kidneys for any of them. Gary Johnson is probably going to win the Libertarian Party nomination but I have always found him to be a a kind of ‘Meh’ candidate as he as only one once as a Libertarian but it was proceeded as a Republican win for his first term as New Mexico’s governor. He also seems to lose the desire to win at times. Kind of symbolic of the party as a whole really.
Well, seeing I don’t really like anybody this time around, I will probably make a for a pretty objective analyst. Stay tuned, I imagine this will be a wild ride.
